Can you contribute to the traditional ira and claim deductions incase you worked part of the year for the employer that has retirement plan and you contributed to 401K?
Considerting that you were employed for rest of the year.

Did not get any clear answer after lot os searching. Any ideas?

You need to do the worksheets in publication 590.

The fact that you were covered by the 401K in the rest of the year (whether you contributed or not) affects your ability to deduct for an IRA even if you weren't covered for the first part of the year.

In my case, can I take the owed taxes from the Roth IRA to pay the taxes due without incurring penalties, etc?

I converted a Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA. The federal taxes were withheld – all is well with that (I think). The state taxes were not withheld. now I owe the state a bunch of money. can I take the owed amount (or less) from the Roth IRA to pay the taxes due without incurring penalties, etc? would this be considered a "premature withdrawal"?

Don't do it.
Yes it would be premature withdrawal.
You know you can undo the conversion? And convert part of the money this year and part next year. Up to 4/15 you can.

you would see premature withdrawal penalties. once the money enters an IRA of any kind it will incur a hit when you take it out early.

When I withdraw money from my Roth IRA, do I have to deduct Federal or State taxes?

By · Comments (0)
Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

I rolled over a rollover IRA into a Roth, which is now called a Roth IRA. When filing tax return, I had to pay Federal taxes on the whole amount that was rolled over. When I withdraw from my Roth IRA in the future, do I deduct Federal & State taxes from the amount that I am withdrawing, & if so, what percentage do I use. Will I get taxed on the amount of money that I withdraw, when I file next year's taxes?

Are IRAs Good Investments? Understanding the IRA’s Return Potential

By · Comments (0)
Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Between July of 2007 and September of 2008, retirement options have misplaced as much as $two trillion in worth. are IRAs great investments nonetheless? are you questioning what kind of returns you possibly can expect with the IRA? are you interested in how IRAs compare with other purchase vehicles? this post will discuss what you’ll be able to anticipate with owning an IRA along with the advantages of IRAs more than other purchase accounts. It’s fairly essential, specifically with the financial state we’re at present in, to ensure we are well-off when it’s time for you to retire. but as even more people today realize they don’t have enough funds to assistance their households, the development of IRA investments will soar. For example having a Roth IRA, one can find approaches where you’ll be able to leverage your contributions to make a return, and then withdraw these contributions to support fork out payments and so forth.Although I could talk for hours about IRAs as effectively as other retirement accounts, my goal here would be to open your mind to the opportunities of proudly owning an IRA apart from the fundamental ones which are on the market (such as the IRAs you possibly can open at a financial institution exactly where they offer a modest guaranteed return price).Compared to other kinds of retirement accounts, IRAs give the most options and opportunities. For instance, most 401k strategies are ran through an employer, plus the account holder has really little say in what goes on inside the account. With a 401k, the account holders interests are normally left to the back burner while every thing is performed to generate the biggest earnings for the employer or 3rd party financial institution.so are IRAs very good investments? yes, as they supply much more prospects of earning a generous return than most of the opposite typical retirement accounts. and with certain sorts of IRAs, it is possible to hold an a lot more numerous portfolio, which means you will possess a significantly much better opportunity of acquiring a substantial return in your purchase.have you heard of a self directed IRA? this is definitely an investment vehicle exactly where the account holder has total control above what happens inside the account. It also greatly expands your alternatives regarding what assets it is possible to hold employing the money in your account. this regularly scares many people away, as much less than 4% of IRA holders have self directed accounts.HOWEVER, just before you obtain terrified off also, be aware that possessing and operating a self directed IRA just isn’t as hard when you could possibly think…you will not go at investing with a self directed IRA by yourself. The IRS needs that a “custodian” or “trustee” retains the money for you personally. they will also be responsible for filing all the important paperwork, keeping information of what goes on using the account, and creating certain all actions are in compliance with all federal legal guidelines and regulations. however, you might be nevertheless accountable for what happens along with your account.I also talked about that proudly owning a self directed IRA expands your options of what property you possibly can maintain within your account. one sort of asset you are able to hold is actual estate, believe it or not. and using the number of foreclosures happening in the market, costs of houses are plummeting significantly. this results in an ideal chance for investors to jump in and both aid the scenario and make a fantastic profit for themselves.Wondering how much function this kind of investing involves? Believe it or not, there are actually turn important solutions out there that virtually look after this whole method for you. you can use the understanding and connections that other established corporations have to your benefit.
